Consistent with FINRA and SEC sales standards, the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) has adopted revisions to its Suitability in Annuity Transactions Model Regulation in order to align the insurance marketplace with best interest standards.
Soon, all 50 states’ insurance departments and legislative bodies will be adopting this regulation to ensure that consumer’s best interests are held above advisor’s personal interest and that sales and recommendations are made only with consumers’ best interests in mind.
